Masías del Mediterráneo S.L. it is a company dedicated to the
dealing and rehabilitation of farmhouses and other rural
properties in the inland Castellón. We are working principally at
the regions of the Maestrazgo and the Alcalatén. The election of these regions
is due to the enormous interest that they wake up among the lovers of the
nature, of the rural environment and the rustic traditional buildings.
The special character of the region is due to its use in the past as well as
the particular relationship that their inhabitants have always had with the
natural environment. The occupation in the Middle and Modern Ages there took
place gradually. This circumstance explains the great density of villages,
castles, towers, hermitages, farmhouses and other traditional
buildings that we can see in the Maestrazgo.
The characteristics of her determine besides the predominance of the
smallholding and the dispersion of the houses of farming for everything. The
region, besides, was occupied up to a very recent date; this explains the good
condition of conservation in which they find many buildings. Part of the
singularity comes given equally by the variety of the rural properties:
from the most former farmhouses strengthened to the small buildings, barns,
corrals of cattle, mills and other constructions.
The relation with
the natural environment, on the other hand, has allowed the preservation of
forests, zones of culture, hunting reservations and water courses that do of
the Maestrazgo a natural paradise. The lovers of the nature
and those of the sports outdoors will estimate undoubtedly the qualities of
this region. From the high summits of the clump of the Peñagolosa, 1815 meters
on the level of the sea, to the coastal plains of the Maestrazgo, the climatic
differences have formed a landscape drastically changing in an environment of
great biodiversity. The areas of coastal bushes, the white and maritime pine
forest, and the medium mountain of grove of evergreen oaks happen in scarcely a
few dozens of kilometers. We can have breakfast opposite to the sea, in the
beaches of Oropesa or Peñíscola and only two hours later cross a flagrant path,
among the junipers and the pine groves of the hillside of the Peñagolosa. A
numerous and varied fauna inhabits the zone. The rational utilization of the
environment has favored her conservation.
In this privileged
frame, there survive villages of undoubted architectural and artistic interest.
A complete net of educational and sanitary services, close to a tourist varied
offer, all this to scanty distance of principal road links they complete the
attraction of the zone. So much if you look for a permanent residence in full
nature as if you prefer a farmhouse to pass the weekend, the
Maestrazgo will surprise you.
